In the 1960s, Pastor Frank Hamrick wanted to teach deep, biblical knowledge and a positive view of God’s work in the world to his youth group. So he began writing his own Bible studies, focusing on God’s character, words, and actions. In 1969, Frank formed the first ProTeen Bible club at Falls Road Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, NC.
Word spread about Frank’s club, and soon other churches began asking to use his lessons. With the growing demand, the need became apparent to reproduce teaching material on a larger scale. After much prayer and discussion, members of Frank’s church secured and set up a print shop.
A board formed to govern the ministry, and Positive Action incorporated in July 1972. Through the 1970s and 80s, Positive Action for Christ continued to grow as its materials were adopted by churches, schools, and other ministries around the world.
Over the years, God has blessed our ministry, with our materials being used in all 50 states and over 50 countries. In 2005, our growth enabled us to move and expand into a renovated school building located in Whitakers, NC, where we write, design, print, and ship.
Our mission is to help teachers magnify the majesty of God. Nothing thrills us more than the chance to encourage pastors, youth workers, schoolteachers, and homeschooling parents in their efforts to reveal God’s glory and grace to others. We pray that we may continue this work for years to come.
